Additional information of e-Checking account
There is only one way to apply for the eChecking account, you have to go to a Prosperity Bank branch. They indicate on their website that this process takes 15 to 30 min. In addition to the initial deposit, you must be over 18 years old (if you reside in Texas) and show:
- A valid ID: Passport, state ID or driver's license.
- Other ID: Birth certificate, Social Security card, voter registration card, visa, passport or business ID.
This interest-free checking account distinguishes itself by lacking a maintenance fee and not requiring you to have a minimum daily/monthly balance. Other advantages worth mentioning are:
- Unlimited checks and withdrawals
- Free mobile/online banking
- Mastercard contactless debit card
- Receive alerts and other notifications
- Request personalized checkbooks online
- Link Apple Pay to your devices
- Near-instant check deposits via your smartphone
- Overdraft protection up to $600 (available after 30 days)
- Statements with check images if you sign up for eStatements

As far as fees are concerned, transactions at other banks' ATMs cost $3. Each overdraft costs $35 and is deducted from your protection amount (if you have one).
When the amount does not exceed $5, there is a reduced fee of $5. If your balance goes into the red (less than $0) during the cycle, the penalty is $20.
Prosperity Bank's eCheking account is more fully operational than the bank's basic version, the Simply Free Checking account, and it costs about the same to have.
